Camping at Bendeela Picnic Site, Kangaroo Valley

This weekend, I went away to the Kangaroo Valley with Brad, Rod and Graham ... it was a fabulous spot to picnic ... plenty of lush green grass right on the river ... quiet and relaxing ... with lots of wildlife around too in the form of wombats! On the Saturday, we went into Kangaroo Valley itself and had a relaxing pub lunch at the local Kangaroo Valley Pub ... played a game of pool and then had a walk around the village! When we got back to the camp, we walked up the river as far as the campsite would go ... about 2kms or so ... kids were playing in the river ... canoeing and enjoying the mud ... check out all the action ...

My favourite spot for a great picture is in the back garden of the local Kangaroo Valley Pub ...

We went for a walk up the river ... Graham, Brad and Rod ... and me!

The campsite was located on the banks of the river ... with beautiful green trees everywhere despite the fact that the river is extremely low due to drought ...

But for some, the shallow river provided an opportunity for much fun and amusement ... and plenty of mud !!

The local wildlife was also out in force ... a bunch of Wombats were very comfortable around us ... a couple even crashed into my tent during some midnight cavorting around the place!!

We took a drive down to Tallowa Dam ...

We saw a massive water monitor lizard on the ground and later, we found him perched precariously on the nearest tree trunk ... clinging for life with their massive claws ... check it out ...
