Kenya : Day 4 : Lake Naivasha to Narok

Leaving Lake Naivasha behind, we made a bumpy, dusty way across the country heading towards the Masai Mara and on the outskirts we reached our remote destination called "Narok" ... perhaps it should have been called "The Rock" because the ground was as hard as a rock, the landscape was strewn with rocks of all shapes and sizes and it was as barren as a bare rock !! It was also as exposed as a bare rock to all the elements and a blustering gale with a threatening storm provided much energy to get our tents up as quickly as possible!!

Our little camp site was nothing short of the bare basic ... a tin shed for food preparation and meal times and an even smaller tin shed with two little drop holes ... no showers, no running water, no flushing toilets ... we'd certainly left the creature comforts behind ... for a while anyway! There is nothing quite like sharing your "bathroom space" with a few dozen spiders and their web wall tiles, maybe a few flys and ... well ... I hate to think what else?!

However, I must admit that despite all these factors, they enhanced the real African experience and did not detract from the beauty around us ... and I captured an amazing sunset which was well worth spending the night in Narok to witness!

Waking up early enough and using my tripod for the first time (meaning I didn't carry it around Africa for nothing!) ... I managed to capture the beauty of an African sunrise ...
