Tanzania : Day 11 : Serengeti National Park to the Ngorgoro Crater

After a fun night in the Serengeti where we had been treated to an amazing sunset and an even more spectacular sunrise ... we spent the whole of the next day on a game drive and just as I mentioned in yesterday's entry, we came really close to a family of elephants ...

And we saw hyaena, baby bat-eared fox, crocodiles ...

And cute giraffe ... this one tilted his head at me as if to say "What are you doing?"

We also saw a number of separate prides of lion ... which consisted mainly of females with their cubs ... but we were hanging out to see a big male lion ... and we were not disappointed ...

We also spotted a pride on the top of a "koptjie" or look out rocks ... having a nice afternoon zzzzzzzzzzz ....

But, by far the most exciting moment we experienced, was just as we were leaving the Park when we came across a pride of lion by a waterhole and here we saw more than one male lion ... both older and younger males were in this group! As we were quietly watching in excitement, we notice a big male sitting ever so camouflaged in the grass ... and then we were privileged to witness a female lioness go on a chase as a group of buck walked ignorantly close to this ditch of danger ... it was unreal ... completely indescribable to watch nature in action ... enjoy!

Here you can see the lioness in the stalk mode in the middle of the picture as the buck up ahead live in oblivion of who is eyeing them out ...

... unfortunately, as you will see in all the dust, she missed her prey but the stalk, the hunt and the chase were spectacular ...
